How to Use the Galleries & Trip Reports
The numerous galleries and trip reports are the heart of this website. This is
where you can not only view photos but carry out various other activities with the photos.
Below each photo in a gallery or trip report is a link that looks like this:
Menu.
When you click this link, a small menu of choices appears over the photo. In this menu you can select
the action you want to take with the photo.
Current menu choices are:
- - In this browser (default) Photo will be enlarged in the same browser on
a new page. (This is the default action when you simply click on the thumbnail photo itself.)
Furthermore, any other large-size photo in the gallery may be selected (use the "Gallery
Navigation" below the large photo to scroll through the photos or select any photo
directly from the drop down menu).
- - In separate browser window A new browser window will be opened in which the enlarged
photo will be displayed. This choice is convenient for saving photos while you continue browsing
the website in the original window.
- Purchase Photo...
- - Order a print Select this menu choice for information about buying a print
of this photo.
- - Obtain licensing rights Select this menu choice for information about
how to secure permission to publish this photo.
- The "Close" button will close the menu.
[Look for more menu options in the future.]

- Ordering prints. Information about buying prints is found on the
Prints page.
- Obtaining licensing rights. Information about how to secure permission to
publish photos is found on the Stock Photo page.
How to Take a Travel Quiz
Every Trip Report has a corresponding quiz you can take to test your
newfound travel knowledge. Each time you correctly answer a question, part of a new photo
is revealed. When you successfully complete the quiz, the entire photo is visible.
To take a quiz, click on a hidden piece of the
photo to answer a quiz question. Correctly
answer the question to reveal that piece of the photo. If you just cannot get the correct
answer for any question, enter "I give up" for your response the correct
answer will be given to you and the corresponding photo piece will be revealed.
There are 3 types of quiz questions:
- True or false questions. Answer by typing either "True" ("T" will also work) or "False" ("F" will also work). This is the easiest type of question (unless you are an exceptionally bad test taker, you should get the answer in no more than 2 attempts!).
- Multiple choice questions. Type in one of the answers from the list provided. For example, "The first letter of the Roman alphabet is [A | B | C]" (type in "A").
- Questions requiring a direct answer. Here you must simply know the answer and provide it without any help. This is the most difficult type of question (you probably need to read the Trip Report to know the answer).
